We could not have asked for better weather as we entered the Steelcase building overlooking Central Park for the Global Wellness Research Event 2018. For the end of January, the weather was beautiful, and we knew it was going to be a great day of meeting exciting people and learning about the new trends in health and wellness.
The Health and Wellness Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering wellness worldwide by educating the public and private sectors about preventive health and wellness, and this event did not disappoint. Unlike other conferences, this event felt extra special because it was for all the Global Wellness Institute sponsors, some of the greatest minds in health, including the former U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Rich Carmona.
As one of the research sponsors, we were proud to be among this esteemed group of influencers, and felt privileged to be included. Each speaker captivated the audience with leading trends, exciting us with promising research, such as the first in-depth analysis of the rapidly growing global wellness real estate and communities sector. We also enjoyed learning new insights about significant wellness trends, from the rising backlash against big tech companies to the growing strength and influence of social media. Perhaps most exciting of all was the speculation that tourism for the health and wellness sector is expected to grow two times faster than the GDP in 2018!
A boom in health and wellness tourism is exciting news for IGetBetterWellness! As the first and only provider of connected coaching, our mission is to help health and resort spas transform people’s lives by extending wellness services and a higher quality of life to guests after they leave. With IGetBetterWellness Connected Coaching, health and wellness groups can stay connected to guests long after their stay, keeping clients healthy, happy and inclined to return for repeat business while spreading positive word-of-mouth reviews.
Another conference highlight was the fascinating conversations we had with talented people from the spa industry, including Dieter Prepohl and Francesca Giessmann from Lapinha SPA, a renowned Integrated Medicine and Wellness Resort Spa in the South of Brazil. We don’t think we could have met more friendly and charming individuals as Dieter and Francesca. We also saw outstanding displays by Canyon Ranch, one of the world’s recognized leaders in healthy living and luxury resort spas. We were very impressed with the time and effort they put into their craft.
With all the amazing sponsors at the event, IGetBetterWellness still found time to chat with the press, including very engaged professionals from Time, Inc. and Organic Spa Magazine. The day was as perfect as the weather—just as we knew it would be when we entered the state-of-the-art Steelcase building that morning.
